ANDY THIBAULT, AUTHOR OF LAW & JUSTICE IN
EVERYDAY LIFE and a member of the Litchfield-Morris Rotary Club, was our
speaker tonight. F. Lee Bailey calls it an "extraordinary
book" by an "extraordinary man."
It deals with dirty cops, political hacks,
inept judges, and bureaucratic inertia exposed by Andy in his columns in
the Connecticut Law Tribune as well as articles he wrote for Connecticut
Magazine, the Hartford Courant's Northeast Magazine, and The Norwich
Bulletin.
Andy admitted, "I have a bad attitude
with the government, the court system, and the police system."
He read excerpts from his book and fielded questions and comments. The
book is available at Borders and Barnes & Noble. Andy also had some
copies with him and sold some to members present.
Diane Smith, author, CPTV producer and WTIC
morning show co-host, says "Andy has made a career comforting the
afflicted and afflicting the comfortable. Justice might be blind,
but his vision is 20/20 when it comes to how the system delivers its
product every day."
Andy has written scathing articles about the
Connecticut State Police and its present commissioner. Yet, when the
[state police alumni association] wanted a book written to commemorate the
100th anniversary of the state police this year, [they] turned to
Andy to do it. The state police book will be out later this year.
